The conventional Solid Fenders and Foam Filled Fenders rely on the elasticity of the rubber / foam to absorb the kinetic energy of the ship. The elasticity and the other properties of rubber / foam being are not constant, in marine environment, due to ageing. This causes a reduction in the Energy Absorption capacity and increase in the Reaction Forces. Alternatively, the HI-TECH Pneumatic Fender uses the elasticity of the compressed air.
