 | Soft Lock When Softlock. Guard is installed and configured to protect certain hard drive partitions, it freezes the partition contents and prevents user/software/operating-system/hardware from changing the contents. Any attempted changes will be applied virtually and stored in a certain place in the partition, those changes might be file and directory editing, creation, deleting or even partition formatting or re-partitioning. If the responsible user wants to save changes he has to choose to save buffer data from the CARD software during computer startup, if he wants to ignore the changes and recover old data he has to choose restore buffer data. To increase the usability of the CARD, auto-recovery can be used to recover data every run or for a certain period. Users do not have to use the recover data function; this situation is very useful for computers at Internet Cafés or Training Centers or Student Labs. Hard disks can be accessed in different ways, all of them are protected by the CARD, but Direct I/O operation (which is used by Low Level formatting utility, Disk Manager in Windows 2000/XP,Hard Disk Fixation and Partitioning utilities) cannot be controlled by the CARD but can be stopped. Use [Monitor Direct Disk I/O] with level 4 or 5 to prevent any Direct I/O operation, whenever the CARD catches any Direct I/O operation it prevents it and generates an alarm signal. | |||||
