- Mountainous forest tea: the brown tea fermented a half as regions of Ha Giang,Thai Nguyen, Bac Ha...

Besides two kinds of tea mentioned above, 2 other new kinds of industrial teas had been born: OTD traditional technological black tea and Chinese dried green tea. Great tea plantations of Capitalism of France with modern technology started to develop. Vietnamese people manufacture green tea in household and small plantations. Black tea was exported to West Europe while green tea is mostly sold to North Africa. Total country’s tea growing area was 13,305 hectares with the output of 6,000 tons of dry tea per year. After 1945, the State began building State-run farms and agricultural co-operatives for growing tea, OTD black tea was exported to Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and green tea exported to China. To the end of 2002, total area of tea growing land was 108,000 hectares in which 87,000 hectares is for business tea. Total quantity of finished tea product was 98,000 tons in which export tea rate accounts for 72,000 tons equivalent to USD 82 million. Vietnam locates in Asean monsoon region, the land of tea plants. Climate, land is suitable for the development of tea plants. A giant rainfall is 1,700-2,000 mm/year. Temperature is at 21-22.60, humidity at 80-85%. Land for growing tea plants consist of 2 kinds of fat schit and basalt. Tea plants grown in parallel of latitude of B11,5-22,50, dividing in to 2 regions: low region at under 300m, middle region at 300-600m, high region at over 1,000m, hence the tea’s quality is quite good. Native tea breed includes 2 kinds: Midland and Shan which can make green tea and black tea, especially mountainous Shan breed has buds of a lot of white naps desired by the world market. Upexim Hanoi now almost exploits material from Northern provinces. Our main markets are South Asia, Middle East and EU.

Tea grading and markings
The leaf grades result exclusively from the last stage of production and the sorting stage. There are 4 basic groups of orthodox production: Leaf, Broken, Fannings and Dust. These categories specify and indicate the different leaf sizes and associated strengths.
