 | Curaderm-BEC5 cream The story of the Original Glycoalkaloid Medicine originated in 1979 when Dr. Cham heard about the remarkable observation that a cow had stopped the growth of an eye skin cancer by rubbing its eye against the leaf of the Devil’s Apple plant. Intrigued, Dr. Cham took some leaf samples back to the laboratory for a closer look. It was not too long after that Dr. Cham identified the naturally occurring Glycoalkaloid solasodine glycosides (BEC) extracted from the Devil’s Apple plant and discovered the active as having anticancer activity in cell culture, animals and in humans. Dr. Cham’s work throughout the 1980s made him the founder of Glycoalkaloid cancer research. This has lead to a whole field of medical research of glycoalkalod compounds and its capacity for well being, cancer and other specialised medicines. The Curaderm-BEC5 cream formula is based on scientific formulations developed through the 1980s and first released on the Australian market in 1990. The cream contains a standardised mixture of triglycosides, solasonine and solamargine and their corresponding di- and mono-glycosides (see publications). BEC5 works in a remarkable way, very different than with other anticancer drugs which are non-specific, destroying normal cells as well. In fact the two Glycoalkaloids purified for the Curaderm-BEC5 formulation each have a specific job. These Glycoalkaloids consist of a sugar part and an alkaloidal part. The sugar part, rhamnose, is not found in the human body. It works as a key that identifies the cancer cells and then enters the membrane of the abnormal cell. Then, the second active, the alkaloidal solasodine, works as a bomb that explodes the lysosome (stomach) of the cancer cell eliminating its existence. The cancer destroying capacities of Solamargine and Solasonine are well documented by medical journals world wide.
