     Pepper Pepper

* Production: 80,000 - 85,000 tonnes per annum
* Supply period: subject to harvest
* Point of shipment: Hochiminh port, Vietnam.
* Further Information: Vietnam Black Pepper is well-known around the world for its good quality. Therefore, nearly all the production of Black Pepper every year is directed for export to overseas market especially the Europe and the USA - the largest consuming countries.

Recently, Vietnam immigrates a new kind of pepper from India which have an early harvest in August or September. However, this kind is very few, only grown in Xuan Loc (Dong Nai province); production is also very small - around 100 tonnes per annum. As a majority, Vietnam Black Pepper is mainly grown in the Central and the South of Vietnam: Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Quang Tri, and Phu Quoc.

Vietnam Black Pepper is basically the same but a little different in colour and density. The best quality Black Pepper of Vietnam is from Phu Quoc with big, and solid corns, bulk density is normally 590 grs/litre, every year output is about 400 tonnes. Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, and Dong Nai only have Black Pepper of fair average quality with density ranging from 520 to 550 grs/litre. However, these are 3 regions yielding up to 80% production of the whole country. Pepper from Dak Lak is of small corns, low density while pepper from Quang tri is small but solid, high density (normally 550 grs/litre). In Vietnam, pepper is majorly processed in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Hochiminh city, and then exported to overseas from Hochiminh ports.

Black Pepper in Vietnam is in its right crop from February to July end. Particularly in 1999, Vietnam sold out 45,000 tonnes taken from stockpile accrued from 1998. In 2000, Vietnam has exported over 30,000 tonnes out of 35,000 production. And in 2001 crop, Vietnam has exported up to 48,000 tonnes among which our company has shipped around 4,000 tonnes. Recently in 2002, 2003 and 2004, Vietnam get bumper crop, harvesting 70,000 to 90,000 tons and Vietnam has become the number-one exporter for pepper in the world market.
